Cougars go cold from the field and watch Cal State Dominguez Hills advances to Division II Elite Eight
Cal State San Marcos’ worst offensive performance of the season doomed the Cougars’ chances of reaching the NCAA Division II women’s basketball Elite Eight for the first time ever.
Third-seeded CSUSM went nearly 12 minutes without a basket in the middle quarters, failed to score in the first 4:14 of the final period and missed 37 of 53 shots from the floor for the game, including 12 of 15 from 3-point range.Charity Gallegos, who averaged 24.0 points during the West Regional and 24.5 in her four games before the regional final, led the Cougars with 17 points. Jordan Vasquez added 13 points and Mina Tameilau finished with 11.
