The prospects for a second Chicago area “Caddyshack” themed restaurant set to go into Wilmette appear over as the deadline for a building permit application has lapsed.
, officials from Murray Bros. Caddyshack never submitted a building permit application by an early September deadline, according to Wilmette Village Manager Michael Braiman.“Any time an exciting new concept comes and gets approval in our special use process and doesn’t move forward, we are disappointed. But we also recognize this is a good site and there was previously a lot of interest from different types of restaurants.
The Murray brothers are Wilmette natives and Bill Murray starred in the 1980 film, “Caddyshack,” playing an eccentric groundskeeper. The restaurant’s décor highlight the film. A sign at the Caddyshack restaurant in Rosemont on April 17, 2018, gives the five things that are not allowed.“We certainly prefer for these types of projects to have a good back and forth to get the best result for the community,” Braiman said. “But we understand on the other side certain things come up that make that challenging or difficult. This is not uncommon in economic development projects. There are a lot of starts and stops. We are still optimistic about the future there.
