Some tenants have found accommodation with family, but more than 30 have been moved into hotels, MacAulay said. Salus booked additional rooms in the hotels so that staff can be available for the displaced tenants. “They may be out hosing down their furniture from the winter and not realize that there’s a leak and the water is also flowing down inside the wall and into their basement,” he said. “And basements aren’t basements anymore. They’re living spaces with big screen TVs and expensive furniture.”
