New pet owners that adopt a cat or dog will receive a special discount toward virtual vet care.
Burnaby's SPCA branch has been tapped for a pilot project with the goal of making animal care more accessible.
"As the number of dogs and cats in animal centres increases, we’re proud to be able to provide much needed virtual veterinary support and financial contributions." The BC SPCA said the animal care centre was able to use the TELUS Health MyPet app to secure a virtual vet consultation where the vet was able to prescribe anxiety medication for the cat so she would be more comfortable in the animal centre and with staff who were caring for her and her kittens.
