Emergency crews were called to Canada Way and Kensington Avenue at about 5:10 p.m. for reports of a single-vehicle collision, according to a Burnaby RCMP statement.Photos from the scene show an SUV with a smashed front end on the sidewalk facing a stone wall.

The incident snarled traffic as police shut down the eastbound lanes of Canada Way during the afternoon rush hour.Shortly before 5 a.m., police had shut down Hastings Street by Willingdon Avenue after a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of one person involved.
