Will any of Burnaby's five MLAs be given cabinet roles?
Burnaby's five NDP MLAs who won seats on Oct. 19 will officially take their elected places in on Nov. 18.
That's when the latest government will be sworn into power, according to a release from the province today, Nov. 6.Reah Arora and Paul Choi will be experiencing the swearing-in ceremony for the first time. Premier David Eby will present cabinet recommendations to B.C.'s Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin prior to the Monday gathering, meaning elected officials will also find out if they'll take the lead on a ministry portfolio.
Kang has been in charge of portfolio's before, having been named Minister of Citizens' Services from January 2020 to November 2020. She was Minister of Municipal Affairs during her last term.He previously served as Assistant Deputy Speaker from 2017 to 2020. While the BC NDP was in opposition, Chouhan was the critic for Mental Health and also Human Rights, Immigration and Multiculturalism and Labour. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Government House in Victoria on Nov. 18.
