Jairus Wuschenny, a.k.a. The Helpful Handyman, is missing his work van stolen from behind a North Burnaby apartment building last week. The theft has forced him to spend $1,500 on basic tools and severely impacted his eight-year-old business. He's worried about replacing the van if it's not recovered.

A Burnaby handyman is missing a work van stolen from behind a North Burnaby apartment building last week.

Based on security video, Jairus Wuschenny, also known as the Helpful Handyman, said the vehicle was taken just before 4 a.m. Friday."And that's just a fraction. I probably have around $25,000 worth of little bits and bobs and tools," he told the Burnaby NOW. "Because I'm a handyman, I do every type of trade, so I got things for everything."

A friend has loaned him a car for now, but the loss of the van has also seriously impacted his business, which he's had for about eight years. "I could load drywall, wood, everything in it. If I'm doing a job, I can load it with the rubbish and take it to the dump," he said. "With a car, I can't do that.""When you go through ICBC, I don't know what they're going to give me for it," he said.As of Wednesday morning, it was still missing, according to Burnaby RCMP, and the file is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about the van’s whereabouts is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 25-3634.
