The ECHL Gladiators play in a 13,000-seat arena. That means being called up to the parent NHL club — playing at Arizona State University — will come with the feeling of a huge demotion. The first question is why would an NHL team play in a cavernous football stadium when most teams look for more intimate sight lines and are hence resident at 18,000-seat arenas — less than one-third the size of the proposed Surrey project?Article content
And the third question is why on earth would the provincial government invest in a new stadium that would compete with PavCo-owned B.C. Place, the current home of the B.C. Lions of the CFL and Vancouver Whitecaps of Major League Soccer?
