AB InBev's recently separated Asia Pacific business expects the coronavirus to lop $170 million off normalised EBITDA from China in January and February. There’s a price to pay for corporate sprawl, but a narrower focus brings its own risks AlecMac11
Budweiser Brewing Company APAC said on Feb. 27 it expects the impact of the coronavirus outbreak to reduce sales in China by about $285 million in the first two months of the year from the same period in 2019.
The Hong Kong-listed company, which spun out from Belgian brewing giant Anheuser-Busch InBev and started trading in September, is also forecasting a decline in normalised EBITDA of about $170 million during the two-month period, it said at the same time it released its annual results. “It is difficult to estimate the full impact in the coming months, as it is dependent on the containment of the virus and the speed by which our customers resume their normal operations,” the company said.
