Joe Thomas has some strong opinions and Dawand Jones vs. T.J. Watt.
But it was Thomas’ first encounter with Jones — the biggest player on the team at 6-8, 374 — during joint practices last month against the Eagles that told him what he needed to know.
Thomas, who gave Jones some helpful tips about interlocking his shoulders to stay square, had read about him tossing his cookies on the first day of rookie camp in May, and then watched him play all 74 snaps in the Hall of Fame preseason game Aug. 3, where he dominated the Jets’ backups. “There’s no doubt in my mind,” Thomas said. “He played it in college and I think it would be like riding a bike if he had to slide over and play left tackle.”
