Megan McArton, France’s dear friend from Winnipeg, Man., plays Sarah St. John, who is dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis. She travels to a spa, hoping for a cure in the restorative waters.McArton said she was excited and a little frightened when she received the script.
“Excited because as a senior actor and a woman, I crave the opportunity and challenge of an acting role that is more than the usual demented granny, ancient family retainer or nosy neighbour,” she said. “Sarah has rich experiences, expression and is a complex character. Through the course of the play, she learns something new about herself and how she relates to others and changes as a result. Yes, it is still possible to do that in your 70s.
The play will be performed in intimate locations in Kentville, Harbourville, Wolfville and Annapolis Royal.Brown Wasp– CentreStage Theatre, Kentville, 7 p.m.– Al Whittle Theatre, Wolfville, 7 p.m.
