You could bake this hunk of meat in an oven, but you'd be missing out on all that smoky flavor you'd be getting from the grill. Use this recipe for Bo Ssäm , Pork Banh Mi with Quick-Pickled Radishes and Carrots , and Summer Chef's Salad with Grilled Pork, Chicken, and Chimichurri Ranch Dressing , or just douse the meat with a little vinegar for a BBQ sandwich.
Sooo good. Made this in the oven, in a cast iron dutch oven and I covered it for about 3.5-4 hours. Took the top off and let it go to the 5 hour mark. Used a small 1/4 tsp. of liquid smoke to mimic the grill. Fall apart, melt in your mouth roasted pork. What a treat.Excellent recipe! Simple and savory. I roasted a 5 lb pork shoulder-in in on a roasting pan with a rack for 4 hours. I think it could have used another hour or so.
After reading the reviews, I added my own seasonings: 3-4 very large cloves garlic, smashed; 4 TB. salt, black pepper, 1 TB. smoked paprika, 1/4 c. light brown sugar and BBQ'd according to directions... Delish!This is delicious and easy. Would incorporate well into many other dishes, but I enjoyed it straight from the oven with some sweet/hot pickles and cornbread. I do think it would be just as good with a little less salt.I agree with couchgolfer... It sounds pretty plain.
