Brooks Koepka will be looking for his second tournament victory of the season when he tees off as the betting favourite at the St. Jude Invitational. (OddsShark)
Koepka has turned in steady results in recent PGA Tour appearances, finishing among the top 10 in four of five outings going into first-round action at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tenn. The four-time major tournament champion is coming off a steady sixth-place performance at last month's Open Championship and has cracked the top 10 in eight of the 16 events in which he has participated this season.
Koepka, though, has also struggled when he isn't near the top of the leaderboard, missing the cut in three of his past seven outings, and on six overall occasions this season. However, he has been a steady performer in past appearances at this tournament. The 31-year-old has finished among the top three in four of six career appearances at this event, including his lone victory back in 2019.
Fresh off his gold medal performance at the Tokyo Olympics, Xander Schauffele sits second to Koepka atfor the tournament, joining Collin Morikawa at +1400. They are followed by last year's winner Justin Thomas, who sits alongside Jordan Spieth at +1600.
Morikawa aims to build on his recent win at the Open Championship, which he followed up with a march to fourth place in Tokyo, but he will need to improve on last year's 20th-place finish in his debut at this event. A two-time winner of this tournament, Thomas arrives at this year's event with work to do to overcome his recent disappointing results. The 28-year-old needed to shoot a final-round score of 65 to eke out a share of 22nd place in Tokyo. Thomas has now finished among the top-20 golfers just twice in 10 outings since picking up his lone victory of the season five months ago at the PLAYERS Championship.
