British Airways canceled almost all of its flights globally for the next two days
By Anthony O. Goriainoff Sept. 9, 2019 7:49 am ET British Airways ICAGY -0.47% canceled almost all of its flights globally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday because of strike action by the airline’s pilots over pay.
The union representing BA’s pilots, the British Airline Pilots’ Association, or Balpa, confirmed Sunday that its members would take action this week to send “a clear message to the company’s managers.” It also plans a day of strike action on Sept. 27 and has said more could be announced. Pilots earlier this year rejected an 11.5% pay rise over three years and accuse the company of refusing to consider alternative proposals or get back together for further constructive talks.
