For the Stampeders to be able to trot out the same group in back\u002Dto\u002Dback games is no small thing, especially with them coming off a win.
There is, of course, another side to all of this, as GM/head coach Dave Dickenson explained on Friday.
Getting a big, badly-needed win can bring about a sense of relief, but it can also create complacency. Despite the perception that the Redblacks are one of the CFL’s also-rans, they actually have the exact same 2-3 record as the Stampeders.Article content Beating the Riders and rolling out the same lineup won’t guarantee anything for the Stamps, and Dickenson wasn’t thrilled with the way his team practised throughout this week.
“Effort in the games has been there, we’ve been playing super hard,” Dickenson said. “What happens is when you kinda come off a high you should celebrate what you’ve done and then raise your standard for future success. That’s just a lot of words, but it’s true. When you do well, sometimes you have a big win and you take a deep breath and you forget why and how hard it was and what it takes. For me, practice is the hard part.
