The new New Waterford Rotary Club members are getting involved in all aspects of the work of the club. We have put together a club membership committee, involving new and long-term members of Rotary, to look at all aspects of Rotary membership and come up with up-to-date policies/procedures for attracting new members and ensuring that, through fellowship, fun, and new ideas from members and expanded services, our club retains our members for the long term.

The Toonie for Life program is well supported by the residents of our communities and, for this, all Rotarians are very thankful and humbled. The live videos of our Wednesday draw normally end in late June, but we are hoping to extend them through the summer. Good luck to all our supporters. The grant funds received by our club grant committee, regarding community revitalization and an active lifestyles program in town are being put to good use. Thus far we have purchased Nordic walking poles and bike racks which will be installed at the Colliery Lands Park and Legion area. Also, our committee started up a New Waterford Active Lifestyles Facebook page to keep the public informed of activities going on around the community.

Locally, our club members and members of our Breton Education Centre Interact club participated in the recent Cape Breton Regional Municipality’s Great Big Cleanup on May 4.Our club is again sponsoring a Grade 11 BEC student in the Adventures in Citizenship event in Ottawa. From past reports of BEC students, this is a fun and inspiring week for students from all over Canada.
