We all need to keep working together to create the next million-certified pollinator gardens.

We hear a lot of bad news, almost daily, regarding the state of our planet, but once in a while there’s some good news that really needs to be shared.

In 2015, seven American groups, concerned about these issues, met at the White House in Washington to find a solution. Out of this meeting evolved the National Pollinator Garden Network. The three-year goal of this group was to create one million certified-pollinator gardens, both in the U.S. and Canada.

A: The tragic loss of so many pollinators over so many years, and the ongoing loss of over one million acres of pollinator habitat in North America due to urban expansion had to be addressed. We needed to make a dramatic commitment that would spark attention.

Q: On Feb. 26 it was announced that in just three years 1,040,000 certified pollinator gardens had been registered. Having surpassed the original goal, what does this success mean for North America?
