Biotech investor Brad Loncar shares 10 predictions for 2022, including a 30% rebound for biotech, the year's biggest M&A deal, and CEOs who won't last the year
Pharma companies are always searching for the next big cancer therapies.
Last year, Loncar highlighted drugs targeting a protein called CD47 as promising for companies building out their oncology presence. He predicted two CD47 biotechs would be bought in 2021 and was partially right, with Pfizerfor $2.2 billion. Now, he has his eyes on another target protein called TIGIT.
Instead, their transformative benefits have been limited to a small group of patients. A major limitation has been manufacturing because cells need to be extracted from a patient, edited in a lab, and then reinfused.
