BP investors take the slow road to climate action gfhay

BP investors voted overwhelmingly on May 21 to require the oil major’s management to disclose how the company intends to comply with the Paris goals designed to limit global warming.

BP shareholders participating by means of proxy votes voted 99.1% in favour of the motion, brought by institutional investor body Climate Action 100+. The motion was also supported by the BP board. A second resolution requiring BP to stick to more rigid climate change targets, backed by pressure group Follow This, was rejected by 91.7% of proxy voters. It was not backed by the company’s board.
