This year\u0027s pilot runs first from May 1 through June 25, and again between Sept. 1 and Oct. 1, with the parkway closing to motorists.

Parks Canada said those looking to bike on the Bow Valley Parkway should start in Banff and bike to the closed highway via Vermillion Lakes Drive and the Legacy Trail connector. They recommended cyclists start and end their trip in Banff, and bring food, water and bear spray. A round-trip on the closed section of road to Johnston Canyon is a 34-km ride.
