Carrie Symonds, the fiancée of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has given birth to the couple's son.

, after being treated for COVID-19, at one point having to be moved into intensive care to treat the illness. Johnson, 55, first tested positive for coronavirus in early April, and spent the first 10 days of his illness self-isolating in Downing Street before moved to the hospital. When he was released from St. Thomas he paid tribute to the hospital's staff, saying “I can’t thank them enough. I owe them my life.” He later added, that "the NHS has saved my life, no question.
Symonds had also suffered symptoms of the virus and had isolated herself during the period when Johnson was hospitalized, but was never hospitalized herself.
