If the Prime Minister remains in power long enough, he wants a full overhaul of his cabinet to bring his top team up to speed ahead of the 2024 election.

Replacing him as Commons leader was Mark Spencer, the former Chief Whip who had been under fire for alleged comments made during the sacking of Muslim former cabinet minister Nusrat Ghani and alleged blackmail of Tory MPs.Backbencher Chris Heaton-Harris took the old role of Mr Spencer, who denies wrongdoing, while Mr Johnson’s new chief of staff Steve Barclay loses his role as cabinet office minister to paymaster general Michael Ellis.
