After scratching out a 3-0 win in Game 1 onThursday – a game in which the Chargers didn’t score their runs until the sixth inning -- Champion had a much easier time in Game 2, scoring in almost every inning in run ruling Brackenridge in five innings. “Our kids answered the call,” Woodchick said. “We hit a ton of balls hard throughout the day. They did too. They’re a good hitting team the whole year, and we knew we were going to have to score a lot today.”
Brackenridge cut Champion’s lead in half with three runs in the bottom of the first. Three of the Eagles’ first four batters reached safely and loaded the bases. Gavin Perez singled in leadoff hitter Angel Ramirez to score Brackenridge’s first run, with a bases-loaded walk scoring the second run, and Josh Arzola coming home on a fielder’s choice groundout.
