Founded in Seattle and one of our region’s largest manufacturers, Boeing will be sending a spacecraft to the International Space Station.
The Starliner spacecraft will be making a crucial test flight slated for mid-to-late April, NASA and Boeing officials announced Friday morning during a teleconference.NASA said it is a busy time for the ISS, with several missions in the coming months. The Starliner’s test flight will show how Boeing’s spacecraft can carry astronauts to and from ISS. Officials said the launch and test flight for the craft is the final piece to see if its ready to fly.
“We’re in the final phases of reviews with NASA at this point, we have a lot of products — turned over to NASA,” said Nappi. “The mission, the crew flight test is really a demonstration of the ability to take crew and cargo to the space station dock successfully. We’ll have some checkouts while we’re docked,” said Arend.
