Mexico says the first body has been spotted near a floating barrier in the Rio Grande river
Texas State Troopers watch from an airboat as workers deploy a string of large buoys to be used as a border barrier at the center of the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass, Texas, Tuesday, July 11, 2023. The floating barrier is being deployed in an effort to block migrants from entering Texas from Mexico.
“We made clear our concern about the impact on migrants' safety and human rights that these state policies would have,” the department said in a statement.
