Global Affiars spokesperson Marilyne Guevremont said in a statement: “Global Affairs Canada is aware of the case of a Canadian who died in Cuba in 2013. Consular officials were in close contact with the family at the time to provide comprehensive support.” Michelle said that Cuban officials have not assisted in any way, though a photo of Nick was sent to her from the morgue.
