The student and a group of friends were taking photos by the river early Friday when he fell down a steep embankment and was swept away
Kamloops RCMP say the body of a 23-year-old Thompson Rivers University student has been recovered after the man was swept away in the North Thompson River on Friday morning.
“This appears to be nothing less than a truly tragic accident,” he said in a release to media on Saturday. “One of the men was swept away,” RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said earlier. “His friends attempted to reach him and pull him back to shore but were unsuccessful.”
