The discovery comes a day after the community held a mass for the missing people. Several hundred people gathered in the local church. “It’s a real tragedy here in St-Roch-de-l’Achigan because we’re a small community,” the town’s mayor, Sébastien Marcil, had said following the explosion. “We’re hit in the heart and we’re upset.”
The SQ said it does not believe the explosion was a criminal act, but it has not yet established what caused it. The force will continue to meet with witnesses to better understand the circumstances that led to the blast.
