The Bank of Canada is committed to bringing inflation back to target and will do so even if its policy-setting path diverges from central banks in other countries, Deputy Governor Paul Beaudry said on Thursday.
On Thursday, two U.S. Federal Reserve officials said more interest rate hikes were needed there to tame inflation. The Fed funds rate is now 4.5-4.75%. Three-quarters of all Canadian exports of goods and services go to the United States.
