Delia Orjuela, the longtime VP of Latin creative for BMI, has resigned and will be leaving the company after 22 years, Billboard has learned. Orjuela’s last day will be Sept. 20.
“I don’t know what it will be yet, but it will be something definitely within the music business because that’s where my passion is," she says.

Orjulea, known for her close relationships and natural rapport with artists, first began working in BMI as a regional manager and rose through the ranks until she was appointed vp Latin creative 12 years ago. During her long tenure at BMI, she was a vocal champion of Latin writers across many genres. Her primary challenge and achievement, she says, “was finding more space for our music and showing everyone that we were so much more than tropical music. There’s pop, regional Mexican, urban. It was about opening their eyes and their minds to see that Latin is huge.”
