Manoah mania didn’t exactly run wild at Rogers Centre Saturday, but an important step forward was forged for the Blue Jays pitcher.
Unsettling and yet unscathed, it was far from a typical first inning for Manoah.His pitches were sailing high and at one point with a runner on base, Manoah seemed to lose his footing on the mound.The Jays made a change at catcher, electing to start Danny Jansen over Alejandro Kirk, who has been Manoah’s unofficial personal battery mate.Manoah has not pitched well this season.Against the Orioles, a mistake to Cedric Mullins landed over the wall for a homer.
All was not lost in the loss, starting with George Springer, who hit a home run and bounced back when he landed awkwardly into second after stealing the base. “Maybe just a little bit of command,” said Schneider when asked if he’s seen something different in Swanson. “The execution has been pretty good.”“We’ll see how it feels ,” said Schneider.
