The floundering Red Sox are deploying a bullpen-heavy attack for a second straight day against the visiting Blue Jays. This didn't work out on Saturday, and our betting picks are even more bearish on it working today.
Red Sox team total Under 4.5 Along with banking on the Blue Jays to cash the five-inning and full-game moneylines, we’ll look for the Red Sox to have another sluggish day at the plate with four runs or fewer. Boston has scored more than four runs just once in its last nine contests and Bassitt has been pretty consistent on the whole, so I don’t see that changing today.
We’ll close out the same-game parlay with a pretty safe bet as we look for Devers to stay hot with another hit. While Boston's offense on the whole has languished, the same can't be said for the third baseman. The Red Sox slugger had two hits on Saturday and is tied for the team lead with 21 since the All-Star break while batting .328 over that span.
Bassitt should give Toronto the edge on the mound even if he gives up two or three runs, but that might even be a stretch for an increasingly tepid Boston offense. The Jays haven’t been on fire at the plate, either, but they should have the edge there too — Toronto has averaged 4.58 runs per game over their last 12 contests while putting up 12 runs against Boston through the first two meetings of this series.
Today’s total opened at 9.5 runs and jumped up to 10 at most books by Sunday morning, so I would go with the Under especially at 10 runs. Toronto has seen 11 or more runs scored just once in its last 10 games, while Boston hasn’t had an 11-run total since July 22 — a span of 11 straight contests.
