LOS ANGELES — With Major League Baseball going all Hollywood with its draft, the Blue Jays were cast in the supporting role for the 2022 edition.
Barriera clearly felt he was going to go higher in the draft and was at L.A. Live where the draft was held to emphasize that belief.
Barriera said he’s looking forward to meeting Jays ace Alek Manoah, who is also from Florida and possesses a brash personality. He might get that chance sooner than later when the big right hander arrives in town for Tuesday’s all-star game. Gunnar Hogland, who was selected at No. 19 a year ago was sent to Oakland in the deal that brought Matt Chapman to the Jays while 2020’s No. 5 overall pick Austin Martin, was sweet to the Twins in the Jose Berrios deal.
