Spencer Horwitz starred for the Blue Jays with two home runs, a double, and a single, driving in three RBIs. Nathan Lukes and Will Wagner also contributed with three hits each as Toronto secured their first win of August.
Blue Jays 9 Braves 5 What a terrific game for Spencer Horwitz . Two home runs and a double and a single , three RBIs. He wants a spot on the team next year. Nathan Lukes and Will Wagner had three hits. Ernie Clement and Joey Loperido had two hits each. On Horwitz ’s double, Vlad scored from first base, running through the stop sign. He was easily safe, so this time he was right. The Jays had 17 hits , to get their first win of August.
Nathan Lukes made a nice play on the RBI single, getting to the ball quickly and throwing to second base to get the speedy Michael Harris out to end the inning. Wagner made two very nice plays at second base as well as getting the three hits. Ryan Burr pitched a quick seventh, and Genesis Cabrera did the same in the eighth. We got our first look at Luis Frias in the ninth. He hit 96.1 MPH with the fastball. He gave up three soft singles to start the inning.
