Nate Pearson is back with the Toronto Blue Jays. The former first-round pick, and once the top prospect in the organization before injuries derailed his career, has been called up by the Jays in time for Monday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox.

Pearson has a 2.16 ERA in eight games with the Class AAA Buffalo Bisons this season. He had 16 strikeouts over 8 1/3 innings with Buffalo.

On his rise to the majors in 2018, Pearson fractured his right forearm after being struck by a comebacker, the Star’s Gregor Chisholm reported earlier. Pearson’s best season came the following year when he advanced through three levels of the minors while posting 2.30 ERA across 25 starts.until a flexor strain sidelined him for much of camp. He returned late in the year to make five appearances, including four starts, but his impact was limited with a 6.00 ERA over that span.
