There is being in the big leagues and there is being a big leaguer and ace starter Alek Manoah has clearly graduated to the second camp.
Given the glaring intensity Manoah brings to the mound for his starts, that mindset may seem counter-intuitive. In fact, it’s the opposite.
“For a young dude, he’s got a good idea of what he’s doing,” manager John Schneider said following the game. “He’s got a real good way about him to get ready properly. All of his work – sides, lives, today, in between – has been on point. just looking for him to continue.” That attitude speaks to an even bigger strength in Manoah. “First time out I felt like was battling the clock, trying to make sure I was making my pitches in time,” Romano said. “Today I was trying not to worry about the clock and just make pitches. Not worrying about the clock, I felt more comfortable that way.”Article content
