“It’s a good combination to win a lot of games,” Belt said of the mix of young, internally developed players complemented by veterans.
A left-handed bat with two World Series rings on his resume, Belt knows that one of the biggest things he can bring to his new team is winning experience.

“I’ve been telling everybody this is probably the best I’ve felt in a couple of years,” Belt said. “For a couple of years, I wasn’t even able to chase my kids around in the yard because it was bothering me so bad. But it’s been taken care of and I feel great right now.Though Belt says he’s feeling good, he’s not going to push it, especially during the early stages of the Grapefruit League schedule. He’s been sporting a brace on his knee and plans to ease his way into game action.
But countering that somewhat for Schneider will be the opportunity to see the team’s off-season acquisitions in action, starting with Saturday’s opener down the road in Bradenton against the Pirates.
