The Durham Health Department is reporting water samples from Lake Scugog, north of the Scugog Point area indicate the presence of blue-green algae.
As summer approaches and weather conditions vary, there may be more occurrences of blue-green algae through Lake Scugog and other bodies of surface water in the region. Officials say if, at any point, you see algae mats that may be blue-green, olive-green, or red in colour, do not go in the water.You’re also reminded not to use the lake as a source of drinking water.
