Blond:ish's new track, 'Never Walk Alone' featuring Stevie Appleton, is a must-hear this week.

Plains Cree and Anishinaabe rapper Drezus and producer Boogey the Beat are frequent collaborators — their track "Tapwe," from 2023's, is one of their standout songs together. When the producer sent over the beat for "Cover My Shoulders" the pair reunited, with Drezus recording his verses in only a couple of days. The result is a searing, boisterous track that crackles with the rapper's signature fiery lyricism and pointed delivery.

But then a number of factors intervened — parenthood, the illness of a spouse, roster changes and the COVID-19 pandemic — and their trajectory faltered. Today, according to a press release, "Anciients are ready and poised to resume their spirited quest for heavy metal paramountcy," with a new album,, due to be released on Aug. 30.
