Bureau of Land Management announced criteria for landowners to nominate private lands adjacent to federal lands.
Published: May. 29, 2024 at 6:29 PM AKDTFAIRBANKS, Alaska - Alaska is mostly made up of federally-held lands, which means most private or state owned lands border on federal property.criteria for landowners to nominate private lands adjacent to federal lands that can be sold or exchanged under the Federal Land Transaction Facilitation Act .
This piece of legislation allows agencies connected to it, to use revenues from the sale of public lands to purchase nominated lands with conservational or recreational value. “BLM is using every tool at our disposal to connect and protect wildlife habitat and to provide the public with access to their public lands,” said BLM Director Tracy Stone-Manning.
“We will continue our work with willing landowners, Tribes, and all of our partners to ensure our collective success.” She added. Lands that may be nominated include those that contain exceptional resources; those that connect to wilderness study areas or a national forest, park refuge, or wild and scenic river such as birch creek.Copyright 2024 KTVF.
