Friends of Chad and Tanya Hooker have set up a GoFundMe page to help then through a difficult time even as they continue to prepare over 300 Christmas hampers for others.
Chad and Tanya Hooker were back at the Bread of Life Food Share they run in Black Creek on Monday, just days after a major fire swept through part of their home.“We have 300-plus hampers going out next week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from Fanny Bay to north of Campbell River, and yes they will still be going out,” Tanya told CHEK News.
“At about twenty after five in the morning and it was like, ‘Dad, dad, we’ve got to get out,’ and the house was already filling with smoke. You could hear it burning underneath the house,” said Chad. Now, as they try to focus on helping others at Christmas, they’ve lost much of their own belongings due to smoke damage.They’re thankful that they will be together and Tanya says it will be their best Christmas ever, because no one was hurt and they will be able to celebrate together.GoFundMe“They are givers and it’s an opportunity for us to give back to them. Their entire heart is for the community and making sure nobody feels the stress of the season.
