A week before it was originally supposed to be released, BlackAdam is confirmed to be complete and the movie has been screened for the cast.
Black Adam might be three months from release but the film is finished and has been screened for the cast. Black Adam, the latest entry in the DCEU sees Dwayne Johnson step into the role of the titular character in a film that the actor has promised will shift the balance of power in the DCEU. The movie released its first trailer back in June 2022 and just held a presentation at San Diego Comic-Con where Johnson made an electrifying entrance in his Black Adam costume.
To say the film is a long time coming is an understatement. Johnson was first rumored to play the role of Black Adam all the way back in 2007 when the plan was for him to appear as the villain in a Shazam! film. Johnson officially signed on in 2014 and the decision was made to spin off Black Adam into his own film. The film was originally set for release on December 21, 2021, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic to July 29, 2022. However earlier this year Warner Bros.
It was originally reported that Black Adam, and other DC films like Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Flash, were delayed due to a build-up of VFX work in the industry and they wanted to give the filmmakers more post-production time. With the troubling headlines coming out about VFX employees' working conditions with Marvel Studios it was the right call to give the filmmakers the time if they needed it.
Black Adam's October release date makes a certain amount of sense for Warner Bros. Discovery. The studio released Joker in October, which became of the biggest hits for the studio. Just last year, on the same weekend Black Adam will open, Dune was released and was a surprise hit for the studio. Black Adam is now the biggest movie set to be released in October and will have three weeks before the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
