Health Canada and its U.S. counterpart have issued a recall notice for seven models of the Bissell Steam Shot handheld steam cleaner, after dozen of people reported being burned by steam or hot water that escaped while the device was heating or being used.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, select models of Bissell-branded Steam Shot hand-held steam cleaners can spew hot water or steam while the products are in use or being heated. Michigan-based Bissell has received 183 reports of hot water or steam expelling from the products, including 157 reports of minor burns.The model numbers and UPC numbers of seven products affected by the Bissell Steam Shot recall.
The model numbers can be found on the the product-rating label located on the bottom of the unit. The affected product colours include green, grey, white and blue. Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the now-recalled steam cleaners and contact Bissell for an $82 credit to be used for a purchase on the company's Canadian website or a $55 refund.Health Canada says the model number for the affected products can be located on the bottom of the devices.
