First responders that jumped into action to save Damar Hamlin’s life after he suffered cardiac in Week 17 were honored on Thursday night but one trainer received special recognition.
The AP announced in November that the MVP award, which is voted on by a nationwide panel of 50 sports journalists who cover the league, would be based on each voter’s top five picks.Buffalo Bills trainer Denny Kellington on the field before a game against the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott praised Kellington during a press conference early last month, calling him a"real hero." "For an assistant to find himself at that position and needing to take the action that he did and step up and take charge like he did, and there were others on the field as well – is nothing short of amazing."
He continued,"You talk about a real leader, a real hero, in saving Damar's life – I just admire his strength."
