The same interview, a sixth year. On November 28th, see what BillieEilish shared with VF this time around.
as she’s transformed from a promising teen singer with silvery-purple hair to a full-fledged pop icon with a platinum bob. Now, on November 28, we’re sharing the sixth edition of one of our favorite traditions: a sit-down interview where Eilish opens up about how she has grown, what she has learned, and what she’s looking forward to in her increasingly bright future.
This year Eilish is back with a totally new hairstyle and plenty of updates to share. “Oh, I wish that younger me could see me now. She’d piss her fucking pants,” she said. “It’s just so wild how different everything is.”back in 2017, the young pop star was just getting started, but we already had a feeling that she was going places.
When she came back one year later, she had already started to hit the pop stratosphere, performing in front of audiences that numbered in the tens of thousands. She had jumped from 257,000 followers on Instagram to 6.3 million, and she was already getting recognized everywhere she went. She also toldabout the downsides of her increasing fame and opened up about some of the emotions she felt like she was struggling with.
Despite her growing success, she was still just getting started. The next spring, she released her debut album, which hit the top of the Billboard 200 chart, and scored her first number one hit with the song “Bad Guy.” When she came back in 2019, she was sporting the green-and-black hair that had become her signature look.
Over the years, we have talked about getting older, getting over identity crises, and her love for performing onstage—but she has stayed coy about her relationships. Check back on November 28 to see how far Eilish goes this time around.
