The Liberals’ controversial online streaming bill could win final approval in the Senate as soon as Tuesday after the government’s representative in the Upper Chamber sought approval to end debate and call a vote on the latest iteration of the legislation. In a statement, Gold’s office said the motion was moved because Conservative senators — acting under the instructions of leader Pierre Poilievre — were conducting a “clear and transparent campaign of procedural obstruction.” The Senate Conservatives, which are formally linked to their counterparts in the House, oppose the legislation, as do some other non-affiliated senators.
