Biker crashes into wall and left seriously injured after five-strong motorbike gang ambush him at Leeds petrol station
A man is in hospital with serious injuries after he crashed his motorcycle while attempting to flee from a gang of five in Lowtown last night.
West Yorkshire Police say they initially attended to the scene under the impression it was a road traffic accident, but quickly established that there had been an attempted robbery. The collision with the wall, which happened at the junction of Swinnow Road and Intake Road in the Pudsey area, left the rider with serious injuries.Police say the group fled the scene and one of them abandoned a motorbike they had used in the attempted robbery in Lowtown.
"It was established to have been an attempted robbery where five males on three motorbikes had approached the 29-year-old victim at the nearby Esso petrol station, in Lowtown, and tried to steal his motorbike. In fear, the victim sped off pursued by the suspects and lost control as he turned into Intake Road, colliding with a wall.
