Although endurance competitions such as the Pressure Cooker, which lasted 13 hours and 49 minutes on Big Brother 25, are impossible to air live, shorter competitions should always play out during the episode. Knowing who the HOH is before the episode ends prevents live feeders from spoiling it for people who don't want to know in advance. It's unreasonable for people to have to wait until Sunday for the HOH results when the competition plays out on Thursday night after the episode airs.
A great example of this was Cameron's second Big Brother 25 HOH win, when his fellow houseguests were visibly shaken by his victory. They barely cheered for him, making for a very awkward moment on the show. If this hadn't aired on a live episode, viewers might not have seen everyone's reactions, or the added background sound effects and music could've manipulated what was actually happening.
