Big Brother Big Sisters Pictou County honoured four Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medal recipients, including Anne Blandford, Ann MacGregor, Jean Marie MacKay and Margie Grant-Walsh at a ceremony at Summer Street Industries on Feb. 2. ContributedNEW GLASGOW, N.S. — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pictou County honoured four Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medal recipients at a ceremony at Summer Street Industries on Feb. 2.
The recipients included Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteers Anne Blandford, Ann MacGregor, Jean Marie MacKay and the organization's executive director Margie Grant-Walsh. Blandford has been a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters for over 30 years, both locally and nationally, mentoring young people and serving on the board of both the local agency and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.
MacGregor has also been a long-term mentor and serves as the local board president, embodying community spirit and serving as a role model for youth.Grant-Walsh has been the executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters for 35 years and has filled the role of big sister, mentoring young people.
