Cases of monkeypox, rarely found outside certain parts of West and Central Africa, have been reported in several countries across Europe, and also detected in Canada, Australia and the U.S.
TOKYO—President Biden said the public should be concerned about the recent spate of monkeypox cases around the globe, adding that the U.S. is looking into the availability of vaccines that could help prevent the spread of the virus.
“They haven’t told me the level of exposure yet, but it is something that everybody should be concerned about,” Mr. Biden told reporters traveling with him on his trip to Asia. “We’re working on it hard to figure out what we do and what vaccine, if any, might be available for it. It is a concern in that if it were to spread, it would be consequential.”
